Wishing You Well

Verlene plays as a hospital musician at Stanford University and El Camino Hospitals in the San Francisco Bay Area for patients, family, and staff.  The harp she plays is a double strung "Mirror Meadow" made by Wm. Rees Instruments.  The music on this CD is soothing and can be used for relaxation, meditation, massage, or just about any time you'd like to hear the soothing sounds of a double strung harp.  There is over 60 minutes of instrumental harp music on the CD.  The painting on the cover is by Deb Knodel.

    Comfortable Blues

Verlene's first solo recording features 11 of her original songs, in a variety of musical styles and instrumentation. The album title is drawn from a strong cut called "The Ostrich," a social lament on apathy. The songs shift stylistic gears from up-tempo rock flavored numbers to smoky jazz-infused ballads with a touch of the blues.

You can listen to 8-bit 11 KHz monophonic Wave file samples by clicking on the highlighted songs. (The actual CD is, of course, in stereo, and CD quality sound.) All sound samples © Copyright 1997 Karmalu Records.

"The album's most powerful moments belong to the mood numbers like "What's Making You Blue," and "Now I Know," where Schermer's expressive vocal abilities are at their finest."

The Hidden Pool

Instrumental compositions and improvisations for meditation, contemplation, relaxation, and affirmation.
A soundtrack for inward journeying...

This CD is a compilation of compositions and improvisations from various recordings by Verlene Schermer.  A few of these pieces were originally recorded as songs with vocals: song 2 is from Persephone's Art ; song 4 is from Dreamtime , retitled from "The Prisoner" (the title for this instrumental version comes from within the lyric); and song 10 is from Rendezvous with the Moon .  Songs 6 and 9 are from the Silverwood Now & Then recording.  The remaining pieces were originally created as a musical backdrop to poet, Cindi Maciolek's poetry on the recording, Java Jems (GAP200).  They appear on this CD (under different titles) by kind permission.  To hear these pieces in their original settings with Cindi's beautiful poetry, you can order Java Jems by visiting her website or by writing to:
Grand Arbor Press, 1930 Village Center Circle, #3-388, Las Vegas, NV  89134.

You can listen to MP3 samples by clicking on the highlighted songs.  All sound samples © Copyright 2002 Karmalu Records.
