Barbary Grant's elegant arrangements of
traditional Celtic music have won her critical acclaim from both Irish
and Scottish communities throughout California. Her clear and powerful
vocals blend beautifully with Irish harp accompaniment to create
music both rich and evocative. An avid student of languages, Barbary
sings in Irish, Scots Gaelic and Manx. In 1998 she won first place in the
sean nós competition at the Great American Irish Fair in Southern
California. (Sean nós — which means "old style" in Irish — is a
highly ornamented, a cappella style of singing.)

Verlene Schermer has brought a new meaning
to the term “blues harp” with her jazzy, bluesy style of singing and playing
harp. A 1997 prizewinner of the Lyon & Healy Pop & Jazz Harpfest,
she accompanies her dynamic, versatile voice on folk harp and cross-strung.
She has recorded 4 CDs of original songs, and has performed in concerts
throughout the US and Europe, inspiring international audiences with her
poignant observations of modern living, and strengthening the capacity
of each person to creatively envision a better reality. |
