What's making you blue
Is it something I said
Is it something that I did
Or is it something inside of you
That's making you...

I don't know what to think
When you turn your head away
Is there something I can say
You're all alone in your suffering

What to do with the sad and silent
If you were mad and violent
I could fight you
What to say to your quiet sorrow
You'll be alright tomorrow

What's making you blue

What's making you blue
Oh, would that I could see
Is this about me
Or is it something deep within you

What to do with the sad and silent
If you were mad and violent
I could fight you
What to say to your quiet sorrow
You'll be alright tomorrow

What's making you blue
Is it something that I said
Is it something I did
Or is it something inside of you
That's making you
Blue
What's making you
Blue
Blue

I put in forty plus hours just like him
In the dog-eat-dog, in the sink or swim
I believe in equal work, equal pay
And that shouldn't end at the end of the day

But when I get home there's so much to do
Like watering plants, feeding the cat
And I'm pretty sure he can see it too
So how come it's up to me?

Well if I don't do it, he won't do it and it won't get done
If I don't do it, he won't do it and it won't get done

It's not like he's lazy, we've divided the chores
I do the bathrooms, he does the floors
I wash the dishes, I make the bed
I buy the groceries, and I get him fed

It's the little things that count they say
Like a tee-shirt here, a coffee cup there
Just how d'you s'pose they get put away
You think they get up and walk?

Well if I don't do it, he won't do it and it won't get done
If I don't do it, he won't do it and it won't get done

I beg, I plead, I tell him twice
I threaten him, I even ask him nice
And if he gets tired of hearing me nag
Guess who's gonna have to pack his bag

Well if I don't do it, he won't do it and it won't get done
If I don't do it, he won't do it and it won't get done

Oh, the blues of it all, the weary, dreary
Tears start to fall, there, there now
Take a deep breath and sigh and dry your eyes

Don't worry, we've all been there
We've all had that feeling
Don't fight it, it's all right it --
It's all in being a human being
How can we become encouraged
If we never first felt despair
It's okay to be there

Oh, the blues of it all, the weary, dreary
Tears start to fall, there, there now
Take a deep breath and sigh and dry your eyes

Don't hurry, just take your time
And feel the touch of sadness
Don't fight it, it's all right it --
It's not a sign of madness
And when you've reached the heart of it
Look outward from where you are
You've come so very far

Oh, the blues of it all, the weary, dreary
Tears start to fall, there, there now
Take a deep breath and sigh and dry your eyes

And when you're ready for renewal
Let the people who are dearest be the tool
And when you're ready for revival
Let your self-esteem's survival be the rule

Oh, the blues of it all, the weary, dreary
Tears start to fall, there, there now
Take a deep breath and sigh and dry your eyes
